Gathered/formed at Konsthantverkarna

Gathered/formed, my first solo show in Stockholm, opened on the 19th of September at Konsthantverkarna – and I’m only now getting up to speed again! I showed a series of pieces, many made specifically for the show, gathered objects from both Ireland and the surrounding streets in Stockholm and a set of large scale charcoal drawings directly on the wall. Konsthantverkarna is a craft collective established in 1951 and invites one international artist to exhibit in their gallery space every year so I felt very privaliged to have the opportunity to show there. It was my first visit to Sweden and I had a great time there meeting lots of lovely people, specific thanks to Esmé Alexander for all her help with curation and setting the show up ( the wall drawings was her idea). I really enjoyed the opening, meeting so many interesting people and getting feedback on the work as well as having Deirdre Farrell from the Irish Embassy attend and say a few words. Needless to say I’d love to go back, Stockholm is an amazing city and the Swedish people where so friendly and welcoming. Once again I’d like to thank Konsthantverkarna for hosting me and Esmé, Cecilia and the other members of the collective who where so welcoming and supportive. Hopefully see you all soon!
Superb – would have loved to have seen it!
Just wonderful Stu! Wish I could have been there for the opening!
