Little peak of a finished piece in the latest series if pieces I am currently working on. In addition to having new pieces for Utensil I am aiming to submit work to a number of other exhibitions. Busy month!
I love the juxtaposition of textures in this piece
can I be cheeky and ask your technical opinion as a silversmith? I’ve treid forums but they’re full of jewelers and pmc addicts, which is useless to me. my work is far removed from yours, being mainly replica medieval stuff. at the moment I’m working on a replica of the studley bowl, which is in the v and a. the bowl itself isn’t a problem, but the lid is very very shallow and I can’t decide whether to form a cone and then shape it out, or start flat and raise it completley, and I’d really value a second opinion?
Thanks for the comment!
Well it looks quite shallow- cones can be a bit challenging so I’d just sink it and planish it into shape. Use a sandbag and a domed faced hammer and drive the metal down- should work, if it needs a bit more height then raise it.Hope that helps.
