I’m walking a lot round the city so I’m starting to collect urban finds. I’m intending on using these in new works this year as I develop a new collection for exhibition.
New Year- new start.
Happy New year! I have to admit I’m still trying to recover from the whirlwind that was 2012- it was a pretty amazing year showing at the V&A, Collect, the National Craft Gallery of Ireland and Galerie RA amongst others. This year I plan on building on those experiences and pushing the work forward.
To kick things off a collection of my work is being shown as part of a group exhibition at Utility at Craft On the Bay in Cardiff. Delighted to get the opportunity to show with the Makers Guild of Wales, the pieces are my more sculptural, expressive work with less emphasis on silver [although there is a fair bit of it in there!]. The work shown includes the pieces I made for the Linen Diaspora in Quebec – some of which is featured on the invite below. The exhibition includes some makers who’s work I really love- such as Cathy Miles, Ann Catrin Evans and Sharon Adams- well worth a visit.

Works at RA
As promised here are the pieces I did for RA as well as the set I sent to Mottisfont. I had a great time visiting Paul Derrez and the gallery- hopefully I’ll get back again soon.
The New Silver at RA
This weekend The New Silver opens at Galerie RA in Amsterdam showing works by Paul Derrez, Chen-Wei Chang, Maike Dahl, Robin Bold, Grant McCaig and myself. Details can be found here and I will be at the opening- looking forward to seeing Paul again and visiting the Gallery.
I have produced a number of new pieces for this exhibition based around the concept of a spoon- I’ll post up pictures of the all the pieces on Monday after the show has opened. Here are a couple of pictures in the mean time of a detail and a complete piece. Just to clarify -these pieces are small- around 15cm long – occasionally people don’t realise the scale and expect something much larger! I think I’ll have to include a scale shot in the future!

The Craft Council of Ireland’s new online Portfolio project went live last Thursday and I am featured alongside some fantastic irish makers.
