Latest exhibition news.. Culture Craft
So since the last post I have been very busy finish work for an exhibition, developing work and ideas for further exhibitions and opportunities. I have sent of a series of works for inclusion in the exhibition “Culture Craft”, curated by Seliena Coyle in Derry as part of the City of Culture. The work, as ever, reflected both my personal culture of collecting and walking and also the social culture of materials and object forms. The work is very sculptural using more found materials with less emphasis overall on silver- I think it is all the more richer [in visual terms] for that. I’ll post a picture of the full set after the exhibition opens – on Tuesday the 30th of July in the London Street Gallery, Derry as the launch event for Craft NI Craft Month. In the meantime here is a sneak peak of one of the pieces in the set.

Today’s finds- some interesting materials I’m excited about using. A strip of thin rust along with some strips of old red paint which came off an old trailer. Really visually rich, delicate yet discarded pieces- looking forward to the challenge of transforming them into objects. Also some dried brambles- really taken by the fine qualities of these – very sketchy and scratchy lines. Going to soak them to try and manipulate them into specific forms.
